The Boat
‘Sorted’ is a Luhrs 32 Express lying in Calheta on the breathtaking island of Madeira. Specifically kitted out for targeting Atlantic Blue Marlin, Blue Fin Tuna and Big Eye Tuna, Sorted features an array of the best tackle from premium manufacturers such as Penn, Pinnacle and Black Bart.
Sorted was bought in Fort Lauderdale, Florida in 2010. She was then sailed to Palm Beach and shipped to Southampton UK, where we joined her and sailed her round the south coast of England to West Wales. After a months intensive kitting out, skipper Howard Williams and Jeff Knapp (one of the top tarpon fishing skippers in the Florida Keys) set off for Calheta in Madeira. Travelling more than 1500 miles in 7 and a half days and stopping only for fuel they navigated the English Channel to Camaret in France, crossed the Bay of Biscay to La Caruna on the northwest tip of Spain and then down the west coast of Portugal to Porto Sines before completing the longest leg of the journey 500 miles to arrive in Calheta Marina.
Spending the next day resting and setting up the gear, their first day out fishing rewarded them with a nice Blue Marlin of about 700lbs!
Sorted is powered by twin Yanmar 315hp diesel engines and features the latest technology in GPS and fishfinders. The Express layout offers a custom cockpit with a Pompanette fighting chair and a raised comfortable seating area with an unobstructed view of all the action for everybody. Down below are galley facilities, a private W.C./ shower room and seating/berths.
